Founded in 1906 in Chicago by Webb Rockefeller Miller. MGM took a controlling stake in 1934, merging it with Leo Feist Inc. and Robbins Music Corp. into "The Big Three" film-and-pop combine. The catalog passed to United Artists (1973), MGM/UA (1981), CBS Records (1983), and eventually -- via Columbia Pictures Publications and Warner Bros. Publications -- to Alfred Music (2005).
