Belwin, Inc. was founded in 1918 in New York by Max Winkler; it merged with Mills Music in 1969 to form Belwin-Mills, a major educational-music publisher. Its catalog later passed through Columbia Pictures Publications, EMI, and Warner Bros. Publications before landing with Alfred Music in 2005.
